And maybe you are combining these with an instructor led language course. You might have progressed to reading the news, listening to podcasts or watching YouTube videos in that language, gradually immersing yourself in it. But as you go about life in your native tongue, true immersion is hard.\n\nNudgelingo helps you with this immersion by showing notifications on your device of the things you are already learning at an interval of your choice, helping to stop things fading away and nudging them back into your memory. You can simply ignore the notification if you are busy, spend a few seconds taking it in, or if you have more time, click on it to enage a bit deeper.\n\nSo let's imagine you've attended a weekly language lesson and have a list of vocab to learn. It's free, simple to use and, due to its use of AI, pretty accurate.
\n
It's also got a few useful features, that make it great to use in conjunction with Nudgelingo.\nGoogle Translate can be used as both a source of data for notifications as well as a destination for when you click on the notification.
\n
Creating cards from Google Translate
\n
Let's imagine you're reading an online article in the language you are learning and come across some new words. Rather than leave the page and type the words into Google Translate, most browsers have an extension that allows you to highlight words and open it.\nFor example, here's the extension for Chrome. You can then save the translation by clicking on the star, building up a list of new words and phrases that you want to learn.
\n

\n
Once you've finished reading the article you can click on the 'Export to Google Sheets' icon (next to Sort)
\n

\n
From here can simply select the words from that article, copy them, and paste them into Nudgelingo to create a new deck in bulk
\n
Opening Google Translate when you click on a notification
\n
Opening Google Translate will also allow you to listen to the words you are learning. Or maybe your cards just contain the language you are learning without any translation. In which case it makes sense to use Google Translate to allow you to see the translation when you click on it, effectively using Nudgelingo as you would with Flashcards.
\n
Setting this up requires a little bit of familiarity with querystring parameters. Firstly open Google Translate in the browser and just translate a word from the language you are learning to your own. Then look at the url. It should look similar to this:
\n
https://translate.google.co.uk/?sl=it&tl=en&op=translate&text=ciao
\n
This is telling Google Translate to translate the word 'ciao' from italian (it) to English (en). You just need to change the language codes and the text to translate.
